We are proud to show how we've supported our community over the years.

COMMUNITY CLASSIC DINNERS

This community dinner event is traditionally held on a Saturday near the end of February and honors a person in our community. It has been running for 17 years, with 2021 skipped due to COVID protocols. A featured speaker from the Beating the Odds Foundation talks about their experiences with organized sports and life.

Fundraisers include a major sports memorabilia silent auction, a basket raffle, and various walk-around raffles. All funds are split between BTW for new park capital projects and with CBRC for youth sports scholarships.

  • Booker T. Washington Park
  • Prospect Park
  • Iuzzolino Park

The parties helped unify the small neighborhoods the parks are located in. We shared free food, partnered with other non-profits, and provided all activities and materials at no cost to attendees.

BTW 3-on-3 Basketball Competition

From 2008 to 2019, we hosted a basketball 3-on-3 tournament for students grade 4-12. From 2008-2018, the tournament was at the Booker T. Washington basketball courts (now called the Don Witherspoon Basketball Courts). In 2019, we moved to the Lakemont Park Basketball Courts to meet growing demand.

Students received a shirt, 2 guaranteed games, and a snack voucher from our picnic area. Games ran from 9 a.m. until roughly 2 p.m. The games were run in double elimination format.
